I have now driven the route – and made some changes. The Waterfall Tour has now morphed into the Waterfall & Covered Bridge Tour!!
Date: Sunday – May 26– Memorial Day Weekend
Starting Point: Tilt’n Diner– at Exit 20 of I-93 – on Route 3
Arrive Profile Fallsat about 12:00
Leave Profile Falls at about 12:30
Arrive Sculptured Rocks Natural Areaat about 1:00
Leave Sculptured Rocks at about 1:15
Arrive Blair Bridgeat about 1:45
Leave Blair Bridge at about 2:30
The total Tour will be about 4 ½ hours
I had plannedon stopping at Welton Falls – but the Falls are a 45 minute walk from the parking area – so I have dropped Welton Fallsfrom the Tour. I had also planned to stop at Rainbow Falls in Plymouth, but the access road to Rainbow Falls is about a mile of dirt road with a lotof loose stones – so I have dropped Rainbow Falls.
So, we will start at the Tilt’n Dinerat Exit 20 of I-93 – where Route 3 goes through Tilton.
We will then go to Profile Falls in Bristol; on to Sculptured Rocks in Hebron; and from there to the Blair Bridge (covered bridge) where it crosses the Pemmi north of Plymouth.
On the Sculptured Rocks stop, note that the Rocks are the show – not the Water. There is water to see (and hear) but it is the Rocks that impress.
Then back south to return to the Tilt’n Diver via Route 175 and 132.
The actual Drive will be about 3 hours – plus the time we spend at the falls – and how long we decide to take for our Lunch/Dessert Stop at the Blair Bridge.
Total Distance Driven should be about 100 miles – so you should make it on one tank. There are a couple of gas stations within sight of our starting point.
When we leave the Diner, we will turn right and immediately move into the left hand lane to turn north on Route 132 in just about 100 yards. We will then follow Route 132 as it meanders its way along – paralleling I-93, but staying off I-93 – all the way up to the Pemigewasset River just east of Bristol.
Then follow the Pemi west over to Bristol and south just a couple of miles to Profile Falls.
(From the Stat to Profile Falls will take about 1 hour)
From Profile Falls we will go back up to Bristol and then follow West Shore Drive up along the shore of Newfound Laketo Hebron and then to Sculptured Rocks Natural Area about 3 miles west of “Downtown Hebron.”
(From Profile Falls to Sculptured Rocks is about ½ Hour)
As we leave Sculptured Rocks we will drive back to (and through) the Village Square in Hebron and then follow North Shore Road over to Route 3A on the east side of the Lake. We’ll follow Route 3A and Route 25 to skirt around Plymouth and then arrive at the Blair Bridge (covered bridge) where it crosses the Pemmi north of Plymouth.
As we approach the Bridge (on this side of the Pemmi) you will see a parking lot for the Covered Bridge Farm Table.
We will stop here for a while. You can use the Rest Rooms – get something to eat or drink (Dessert maybe!!) – or, if you brought a picnic – there is a park area along the water at this end of the Bridge if you would like to picnic there.
(From Sculptured Rocks to the Blair Bridge will be about ½ hour)
After this stop we will cross the Blair Bridge and pick up Route 175 South on the east side of the Pemmi.
We will take Route 175 south to “T”s into Route 3 – and then follow Route 3 for about 2.6 miles to then pick up Route 132 again – in Ashland – but this time heading south – and wend our way all the way back down to the Tilt’n Dinerfor our End Point.
: (From Blair Bridge to the Tilt’n Dineris about 1 Hour)
Please do let me know if you plan to join us – so I will have some idea how many to expect – and we won’t leave without you.
