News from the Palace – April 2025 – NH Food Bank
Good evening, everybody!
Wouldn’t you know, as I write this eblast meteorologists have predicted a snowstorm for tomorrow. As the old saying goes, if you don’t like the weather in New England, wait a few minutes and it’ll change. Still, thoughts of warmer temps are stuck in my head now and that means drives and car shows. Our biggest event is the annual Show of Dreams, which benefits the NH Food Bank. It’ll be here before you know it!
If you’ve seen the news lately, they are losing funding of nearly one million dollars. https://www.wmur.com/article/nh-food-bank-federal-funding-cut-03122025/64165207
Since the beginning BCNH has been a firm supporter of those less fortunate. Please take a moment to read the below, provided by our SOD Committee:
More than just a Car Show… How BCNH is helping to combat Food Insecurity in New Hampshire
Each July the British Car Club of New Hampshire hosts The Show of Dreams car show at the Alvirne Hills House field in Hudson, NH.
The show exhibits over 200 classic British cars including classes for American and International cars. The show attracts many spectators from around Southern New Hampshire to view the beautiful and interesting cars while enjoying the food trucks, music, and nostalgia.
The Show of Dreams is a charity show and all the proceeds go directly to the NH Food Bank to support hungry families in New Hampshire.
Having a close partnership with the New Hampshire Food Bank helps the club stay educated on the current state of hunger in New Hampshire. At our last Show of Dreams meeting, we learned that food insecurity has increased 43.9% in New Hampshire over the past year. Most of us were unaware of the term Food Insecurity which means the condition of not having access to sufficient food of good nutritional quality to meet one’s dietary needs. Right now, nearly 10% of NH residents, including 13.4% of children, are experiencing food insecurity, according to a new Feeding America report.
You can help BCNH support the New Hampshire Food Bank combat food insecurity by:
- Becoming a Show Sponsor
- Registering your British or American car in the show
- Attending the show as a spectator
Guest parking and entrance to the show is free but we strongly encourage donating to the New Hampshire Food Bank and support the Food Trucks and vendors while you enjoy the show. Handicapped parking and restrooms are available.
Raffle Items
Our SOD raffle is one of the most popular things about the show; participants and spectators alike get to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win fun and useful things. We encourage each member to donate an item for the raffle, and like last year, we’ve made it easy for you! Below is the link to our Amazon Gift List – just order and it goes directly to our Raffle Coordinator, Dan Beliveau.
